There was a workshop in Berlin where alcohol wasn't the point. Not because someone had given it up, but because Philipp Rößle, who describes himself as an artist first, decided in 2018: if you want something good, build it yourself.

Kolonne Null are not winemakers in the conventional sense. They taste. For weeks. They source base wines from award-winning family estates across Europe, blend and select in their Berlin lab, and only decide when something genuinely earns it. Then, at around 30°C, they remove the alcohol through gentle vacuum distillation. The aromas return. Because they literally bring them back.

The question they keep returning to is not what they take out, but what stays in. Their Riesling was named Germany Non-Alcoholic Riesling Winery of the Year at the 2024 International Non-Alcoholic Competition. Their Rosé took bronze at the 2025 World Alcohol-Free Awards. These are not marketing numbers.

Pour a glass. You'll notice something is different. All organic, vegan, gluten-free. Though Kolonne Null would probably find that the least interesting thing about them...
